Bindu
Basini Govt. Boys’ High School ( বিন্দুবাসিনী
সরকারী বালক উচ্চ বিদ্যালয় ). commonly referred
to as Bindu Basini Boys or B. B. Boys, is a public
boy’s high school in Tangail, Bangladesh. The school was established in
1880 as a minor school, patronized and endowed by Rani Bindubasini Chowdhurany (Zamindar of Santosh) and named after her as Bindu
Basini High School (বিন্দুবাসিনী হাই
স্কুল)
In 1970 the
school became government funded and started to operate as double shift school in 1991. The school runs secondary (class 6-10) education for boys and
students appear in JSC and SSC examinations.
The school
started operation on April 3, 1880 as
a minor school. After a short while it was named as Graham School after
then District Magistrate ofMymensingh Zilla and was made high school.
Then school authority sought and received financial help from Nawab Bahadur Syed Nawab Ali Chowdhury (নবাব বাহাদুর সৈয়দ নওয়াব আলী চৌধুরী), then Zamindar of Dhonbari. he aided with operational costs
for two years.
Bindu
Basini Roy Chowdhurany (বিন্দুবাসিনী
রায় চৌধুরানী), Zamindar of Santosh then aided the operation of the school
and it was renamed to Bindu Basini High School as recognition of
her support. She carried the responsibility until she formed a trust in
1910 and handed over the responsibility to the Trust Board. Afrer death
of Mrs Cowdhurany her sons Pramath Nath Roy Chowdhury (প্রমথ নাথ রায় চৌধুরী) and Sir Monmoth Nath Roy Chowdury (স্যার মন্মথ নাথ রায় চৌধুরী) patronized the school, they established
facilities like building, laboratory and library. In 1996 Bindubashini Govt
Boys high Tangail achieved the best high school in Bangladesh.
